mrsa/anthrax-antibiotics/anthrax animations.
Anthrax is caused by the bacteria Bacillus anthracis, and anthrax spores
can be highly infectious and dangerous once the bacteria spore turns into
a bacillus. There are 89 known strains of anthrax bacteria. The Ames strain
of anthrax bacteria is particularly virulent and was used in the 2001
anthrax attacks in the US. Treatment is possible with antibiotics
The Methicillin-resistant Stapylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteria is commonly
referred to as a ‘super bug’ due to its resistance to all
penicillin type antibiotics. Discovered first in 1961 in the UK it is
now widespread in hospitals and increasing mrsa reports suggest mrsa bacteria
is found amongst intravenous drug using populations.
